31 cops transferred from Kahawatta

Thirty-one officers of the Kahawatta Police Station have been transferred with immediate effect, police spokesman said today.

All officers attached to the police station except the OIC have been transferred according to service requirements, as ordered by SSP in charge of Ratnapura.

The officers, consisting of constables and sergeants, have been transferred to police station within the Ratnapura District itself and Kegalle and Avissawella.

The Kahawatta Police had come under criticism from the residents in the area over its approach in investigating the series of murders which took place in Kotakethana, Kahawatta in recent times.
