Navy rescues 38 foreign nationals in distress

Sri Lanka Navy today rescued 38 foreign nationals stranded in the sea around 225 kilometers off Sangamankanda Point, Batticaloa.
The naval ship “Sagara” was dispatched from the Galle Harbour to rescue the foreign nationals in distress, navy spokesman Commander Kosala Warnakulasuriya said.
The rescues persons have been provided with medical assistance while four of them are in critical condition, navy said.
The groups, believed to be Myanmar nationals, had been drifting in the sea for several days without food or water, the navy spokesman said.
