April 1, 2013   06:14 pm

The enjoining order requested from the Colombo District Court preventing Jayantha Dharmadasa acting as nominee for Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Presidency has been put forward until April 8.

Officials of the SLC and Colombo District Cricket Association have been issued summons to appear before court on that date.

The petition filed by the Colombo District Cricket Association challenging the nomination of Jayantha Dharmadasa for the SLC top post was taken up before Colombo District Judge Amal Ranaraja today.

Dharmadasa, former SLC interim president (2005 to 2007), was nominated for the post of President by the SLC Executive Committee last week after all three original candidates were rejected.

MP Thilanga Sumathipala, current president Upali Dharmadasa, and Badureliya Sports Club president Sumith Perera have all had their nominations rejected for various reasons.

Sumathipala had had his nomination rejected by the sports ministry.
