Arresting former member of the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC), Azath Salley was in contradiction of the country’s laws, Justice Minister Rauf Hakeem stated.

Speaking at a press conference held in Vavuniya, Hakeem said that arresting Salley without presenting the charges against him was going beyond the law.

Meanwhile, Salley who was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department will be questioned further while the CID will continue investigations on him, Police Media Spokesman SP Buddhika Siriwardena stated.

Salley’s daughter has sent a letter to the President regarding her father’s arrest.
