The United National Party says the price of milk powder is set to be increased by Rs 100 and that they have been informed that discussions on the matter are currently underway.
UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake stated that while all this is taking place the government is slowly spreading “a story misleading the public” claiming that milk powder contains arsenic.
Addressing a press conference in Colombo today, he further stated that the JHU and Minister Wimal Weerawansa have said they will take legal action against polls being held in the North, “but it wasn’t the opposition who said Northern Provincial Council elections were being held.”
However, Wimal Weerawansa is playing the part of an actor and the director is somebody else, Attanayake said.
On the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting to be hosted in Sri Lanka, the UNP MP said they would attend if invited, however objected to the millions of taxpayer money being “wasted” on the event.
He stated that the government is preparing to purchase aircraft for the Commonwealth meet and that a high-ranking official in the company which is purchasing the aircraft had been suspended over financial fraud.
