VIDEO: Provincial Councillor arrested for ‘punishing’ teacher

North Western Provincial Council member Ananda Sarath Kumara has been arrested by Navagattegama Police for allegedly punishing a school teacher, Ada Derana reporter said.

The female teacher of the Navagattegama Navodya School is reported to have warned the politician’s daughter regarding her uniform as it was shorter than the allowed length.

The student in return had informed her father regarding the incident, after which he had arrived at the school yesterday (15) and punished the teacher by making her kneel down, Ada Derana reporter said.

The Provincial Councilor was arrested after the teacher lodged a complaint with the police over the incident.
