SLMC calls for urgent meeting to brief party members

The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) has called for an urgent meeting of its members, who are scheduled to gather at party headquarters, ‘Darussalam’ on Monday night.

The meeting will be chaired by party leader and Justice Minister Rauf Hakkem, SLMC National Organizer Mohamed Shafeek Rajabdeen said, while SLMC are expected to be briefed on the party’s stand regarding the 13th Amendment to the Constitution.

The Muslim Congress states that it has already informed President Mahinda Rajapaksa of the party’s stand regarding repealing provisions of 13th Amendment.

Rajabdeen stated that a decision has currently been taken to appoint a Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) before the any amendments are made and that the SLMC has decided to participate in the PSC.

Party members will tomorrow (17) be briefed on certain crucial decision taken by the party, he said.
