VIDEO: No seminars, workshops or classes 5 days from exams

The government has issued a special gazette notification prohibiting the conducting of seminars, workshops, lectures or private classes targeting a certain general examination in the country from 5 days prior to the commencing of the exam.
Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena stated that according to the special gazette, issued on June 21, conducting of such activities will be deemed as an offence and punished accordingly.
He further said that academics preparing question papers have also been barred from conducting any seminars.
Speaking at a press conference today, he stated that examinations will be conducted this year impartial to all students and avoiding problems which had surfaced during previous exams.
The Education Minister stated that any complaints regarding irregularities at examinations can be forwarded to the Commissioner General of Examinations.
The 2013 G.C.E. Advanced Level examination will be held from August 5 to 31 while the Grade 5 Scholarship exam is scheduled to be held on August 25.
