Twenty police officers attached to the Deraniyagala Police Station have been transferred with immediate effect, police spokesman SP Buddhika Siriwardena said.

He stated that 20 officers who had served at the Deraniyagala Police Station for a long period of time have been transferred to different police stations.

However, residents of the area had recently protested against certain actions of Deraniyagala Police offices, accusing them of avoiding prosecution of some criminals due to political affiliations.
