Provincial Minister arrested over assault

Fisheries Minister of the Southern Provincial Council D.V. Upul has been arrested in Tangalle for allegedly assaulting a SLTB employee, police said.

The Provincial Minister is charged with assaulting a bus driver of the Tangalle depot, police spokesman Buddhika Siriwardena said.

He stated that the Southern Province Fisheries Minister had surrendered to police over the incident.
