Fmr. Provincial Councillor accused of punishing teacher released on bail

Former North Western Provincial Councilor Ananda Sarath Kumara who is accused of punishing a school teacher was released on bail today (August 8) by the Puttalam Magistrate Court. 

On July 25 he was remanded again for violating his bail conditions after being initially granted bail on June 27. 

 The Councillor was arrested for allegedly punishing a school teacher at a school in Nawagattegama by making her kneel down after she reportedly warned Kumara’s daughter regarding her uniform. 

He was expelled from the SLFP and barred from contesting future polls.
