STATEMENT FROM DIPPED PRODUCTS PLC

Dipped Products PLC seeks co-operation of all parties to resume operations in the near future

As per the court hearing which was concluded a short while ago, the reports presented to the Gampaha Courts so far have not shown any conclusive evidence to prove that the treated effluent from the latex glove manufacturing factory at Rathupaswala is responsible for the low pH in well water reported in the area. This has been the position maintained throughout by the Factory which has also been endorsed by a number of experts who have communicated their scientific opinion through the local media.

The factory was opened for non-production related activities soon after the multi-stakeholder meeting with H.E. The President of Sri Lanka held on 12th August 2013. As per the consensus reached at this meeting, the Company has already requested the BOI for their assistance in identifying a suitable BOI Zone to which the Factory can be relocated within an agreed time frame. In line with the consensus arrived at the multi-stakeholder meeting, the factory is now in a position to resume its production operation for an interim period pending its relocation, after consulting the relevant higher authorities in this regard.

The company also offers its sincere thanks to the higher authorities for the role played by them thus far in helping to resolve this crisis.Dipped Products PLC looks forward to the co-operation of the public in maintaining a peaceful environment going forward and putting an end to the unnecessary animosity.

Dipped Products PLC (DPL), a member of the Hayleys Group, is one of the world’s leading manufacturers and distributors of protective gloves. Now in its fourth decade of active operation, DPL accounts for approximately 5% of the world’s production of non-medical rubber gloves. DPL owns and operates seven manufacturing subsidiaries in Sri Lanka, a medical glove manufacturing company in Thailand and a marketing company based in Italy.
