Government sector workers have been the most burdened and misled group in Sri Lanka especially during the elections as they are the worst affected by the rise of cost of living with no increases in their salaries, UNP General Secretary MP Tissa Attanayake stated.

Attanayake believes that government servants will not be fooled by the promises made by the government and will use their postal votes independently.

He accused the government of using state property for election work as well as setting up various Dansal in the election areas. The MP said that he had learnt that some candidates had set up ethanol Dansal.

He requested the people to use their votes against the government during this time in order to make a statement against corruption.

The UNP MP also charged that the government was preparing to privatize the People’s Bank of Sri Lanka while claiming that the President’s comments on not selling state property were completely false according to recent cabinet decisions and Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella’s statements to media regarding the sale of a 49% stake of the People’s Bank on the Stock Market.
