Provincial councillor among 5 held for assault

North Western provincial councillor Kamal Indika and four others have been arrested over an alleged incident of assault. They have been remanded till December 05, police said.

A complaint had been lodged with Gokarella Police accusing five persons including the Provincial Councillor of assaulting Udagedara Saman Bandara and two others.  

The suspects were arrested today and produced before the Kurunegala Magistrate, who ordered that they be remanded till December 05.
