Adding to the growing list of UPFA controlled local government bodies where the budgets have been defeated this year, the budget of the Ududumbara Pradeshiya Sabha has also been defeated by a majority of 1 vote today.

The Chairman of the Ududumbara PS, Gamini Senarath Bandara presented the budget to the council and the voting was held afterwards. Four members voted in favor while 5 including a UPFA member voted against the budget.

The Ududumbara Pradeshiya Sabha consists of 5 UPFA members, 3 UNP members and one member representing an independent group.

All opposition members had voted against the budget while a UPFA member had also done the same.

The Budgets of several local councils governed by the United People’s Freedom Alliance co were defeated recently, resulting in the ruling party deciding to summon the chairmen and members of all those bodies to Colombo.

Recently the Chairman of the Embilipitiya Pradeshiya Sabha lost his position as Chairman after the vote on the budget was defeated for a second time.

The budgets of Medawachchiya, Imbulpe and several other Pradeshiya Sabhas have also been defeated.
