At Batticaloa Air Force Base...

The renovated runway and passenger terminal of the Batticaloa Air Force Base was declared open by President Maithripala Sirisena. The new runway has a length of 1560 meters. It has been updated facilitating medium-sized aircraft. It was significant that the President landed at the Sri Lanka Air Force station Batticaloa by the aircraft (SLAF MA-60), the first aircraft to land on the renovated Batticaloa runway.
