VIDEO: Journalist Mel Gunasekara found murdered

A senior business journalist, Mel Gunasekara was found dead today with injuries caused by a sharp weapon at her residence in Battaramulla, police said.

Gunasekera, who specialised in Business Studies from the University of East London, had worked as a Correspondent for the international news agency Agence France-Presse (AFP), covering economic and political affairs in Sri Lanka and the Maldives.

Her family members had reportedly returned to the two-story house in Gemunu Mawatha, Battaramulla after visiting church this morning and found her dead on the floor.
