Police raid ganja field within Yala National Park

Two suspects have been arrested following a raid carried out in a marijuana cultivation in the Hattota area within the Yala National Park.

The operation was carried out by jointly by officers from the Tissamaharama Police and Hambantota Police special task force.

Over 72 kilograms of cannabis and an illegal firearm found in the possession of the suspects have also been taken into custody by police.

The arrested suspects are residents of Tissamaharama and are scheduled to be produced at the Tissamaharama Magistrate’s Court.
