A father and son were found dead in their home in the Agarapathana area after allegedly committing suicide by hanging themselves.

The victims were 39-year-old Thuladasan and his 9-year-old son Divoj, an Ada Derana correspondent stated.

It was reported that the father and son were alone in their home last night while their bodies were found this morning (March 7).

Residents claim that the father had attempted to kill himself by consuming poison twice in the past owing to a family problem. It is still unclear whether the nine-year-old had committed suicide along with the father or if he was murdered by his father.

The childs mother, along with her daughter, had distanced herself from the rest of the family and is currently living separately, it was reported.

The Agarapathana police are conducting further investigations.
