Light vehicles such as cars and jeeps will be charged a toll fee of Rs 100 on the newly-opened Kottawa-Kaduwela Expressway while heavy vehicles will be charged Rs 300, the Ministry of Highways said.

The first phase of the Colombo Outer Circular Highway (OCH), which was ceremonially declared open by President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday, was opened for public use from this afternoon.

Meanwhile the ministry says that bus services along the Kottawa-Kaduwela expressway will commence within the next two weeks.

Bus services will be launched following the opening of the Galle-Matara Expressway on March 15, it said.

The Ministry of Highways further said it intends to operate this bus service together with the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB).
