VIDEO: Death toll in Kataragama house fire rises to 4

A two-and-a-half year old girl who was critically injured after a house was set ablaze in Kataragama has succumbed to injuries a short while ago, raising the death toll from the incident to four.

It was reported earlier today that three persons had died and three more were injured when a man had set fire to himself and his home last night.

The incident had taken place at around 9.15am yesterday when the man in question had stabbed his wife with a sharp object before setting fire to their home, following a family dispute.

The man and his mother-in-law died in the fire while his wife succumbed to injuries after being admitted to the Kataragama Hospital.

The woman’s daughter, sister and father were also inside the house at the time of the fire and were hospitalised with injuries.

However, the two-and-a-half year old daughter had also succumbed to injuries a short while ago.
