Buddhist monk hospitalised after attack in Elpitiya

The Chief Incumbent of the Saranankara Temple in 9th Mile Post, Elpitiya has been hospitalised after allegedly being attacked by an individual wielding a sharp object this morning, police said.

The incident had taken place at around 4.30pm today (15) while the Buddhist monk, who had sustained critical injuries in the attack, is currently receiving treatment at the Karapitiya (Teaching) Hospital.

No arrests have been so far over the incident while Elpitiya Police are conducting further investigations.
