Bus driver arrested after youth dies in crash

A 19-year-old youth was killed and a woman was critically injured after a motorcycle collided head-on with a bus at Horombuwa Junction on the Monaragala-Wellawaya main road today.
Police said the motorcycle rider, a 19-year-old from Abagolla, and the backseat passenger, a young woman, were admitted to the Monaragala Hospital with critical injuries following the collision.
However, the youth succumbed to injuries several hours later.
The driver of the bus has been arrested over the incident while he is to be produced at the Monaragala Magistrate’s Court today.
