Rs 450,000 stolen from fish trader during police-like search

Police have launched an investigation to arrest a three-member group responsible for robbing Rs 450,000 from a fish trader in Wellawatta this morning.

The suspects, one of them dressed in attire similar to the police uniform, arrived in a car and stopped a lorry, transporting fish from Moratuwa to Peliyagoda, on Marine Drive in Wellawatta at around 4.35am today.

They had searched the lorry and its occupants during which one of the suspects had grabbed the wallet of a lorry passenger, the fish trader, and fled in the car along with the other 2 men.
