Some 500 residents of Meegalewa area held a demonstration this morning in front of the Galgamuwa Courts complex, demanding strict legal action against those who apprehended in connection with the kidnapping of a four-year old child.
The protesters chanted slogans and demanded that the suspects should be given a maximum penalty. “We expect a fair decision on this matter. The law should be strictly implemented by the government, against rapists and child abductors,” a protester said.
The four suspects who were arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in connection with the case were produced before the Galgamuwa Magistrate for an identification parade, this afternoon.
The individual who allegedly sold the unregistered mobile SIM cards for the suspects was also produced in the Court, Ada Derana reporter said.
Four-year-old Danidu Yashen was abducted, last month, and was later rescued by a police team attached to the CID led by a SSP, on 28 July.
