Ex-DIG Vass Gunawardena was enlarged on bail, today, in a case where he was accused of threatening a group of CID officers including ASP Shani Abeysekara, by the Colombo High Court.

The DIG was released on a cash bail of 25,000 when the case was taken up for hearing in the presence of High Court Judge Irangani Perera.

This case was filed by the CID as they were verbally threatened by Gunawardena who reportedly said “I am a murderer, you all are not able to keep me inside forever, when I am out, see what I will do to you all”

DIG   Gunawardena was arrested on June 10 following the murder of businessman Mohamed Shiyam.
