Patrol Vessel of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG), Vaibhav, detained two Sri Lankan
fishing boats off the coast of Kanyakumari yesterday for reportedly entering
the Indian waters without proper permission.
Sources
in the ICG Station here said the Sri Lankan fishing boats were detained with 12
fishermen. The detained craft and the fishermen are likely to be brought here
on Wednesday afternoon.
The
indigenously designed and built Vaibhav with 10 officers and 84 men is being
extensively used in the eastern region, especially in the sensitive Gulf of
Mannar and, to an extent, along the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL)
with Sri Lanka ever since it was commissioned in May 2013.
Sources said the Sri Lankan fishing boats were detained with 12 fishermen, the Hindu reports.
