Over 100 mm heavy falls at some places

October 21, 2014   12:25 pm

The Met. Dept. says that showers or thundershowers will occur over most parts of the island particularly during the afternoon and night. Heavy falls (more than 100mm) are also likely at some places.

Showers will occur along the coastal areas extending from Colombo to Matara via Galle and from Kankasanturai to Pottuvil via Trincomalee during the morning, too.

The Met. Department advises the general public to take adequate precautions to minimize the damages caused by lightning activities, as there may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.
