President Mahinda Rajapksa is expected to present the Budget proposal for the year 2015 in Parliament tomorrow (24) for the first reading, the Ministry of Finance and Planning says.

The sources close to the Ministry said that the Budget  is being presented to Parliament early this year due to the government’s decision to hold the Presidential Election in January 2015.

The expected government expenditure for the year 2015 is over Rs 3053 billion, around 17 per cent higher compared to the previous year’s expenditure.

The Appropriation Bill for the service of the financial year 2015 was presented in Parliament by the Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne on 26 September.
