UPDATE: Fire at Anuradhapura hospital

A fire has erupted in Professors’ ward of the six storeys tall ‘building at the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital, this morning.

The police said that the fire was extinguished with the assistance of the fire brigade and the hospital staff, within few hours.

The M.R.I. scanner unit has been damaged following the fire, an officer told Ada Derana. 

A part of the building has been completely destroyed by the fire. No casualties were reported following the incident. A team from the Government Analyst’s Department will visit the scene for further investigations, tomorrow.
