Transfer of 10,000 cops postponed

The police headquarters today announced that transfer of some 10,000 police officers scheduled to come into effect on 1 January, 2015 have been postponed due to the forthcoming Presidential election.

Police Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana told Ada Derana that therefore respective transfers will be effected from 1 February next year.

“The implementations of the transfers have been postponed 1 February, 2015. Over 5,000 transfers will involve police officers including Police Constable, Sergeants, Sub-Inspector, Inspector and Senior Inspectors who have been serving in the Northern and Eastern Provinces for over five years,” he added.
According to the police, the proposed promotions for SIs, Inspectors and CIPs will be carried out before the end of the year.
