MP Jayantha Ketagoda told Ada Derana that he is willing to vacate his Parliamentary seat hand it over to Democratic Party (DP) leader Sarath Fonseka.

In 2011, Ketagoda became a Member of Parliament filling the seat left vacant by the imprisonment of Sarath Fonseka, after he was sentenced to serve a three year prison sentence by a military court which convicted him of irregularities in army procurements.

However, Ketagoda added that he made the decision upon a request made by the former Army Commander.

On 8 December, Ketagoda left the Democratic Party and joined the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) and pledged to support former President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the presidential polls.

Ketagoda is a well known actor in stage drama and teledramas, and he entered this field in 1986 and gained artistic popularity within three (3) decades.  He is a Diploma holder from the Television and Cinema Training Institute of Sri Lanka.
