Three-wheeler, school van fares slashed

Minister of Internal Transport, Ranjith Madduma Bandara, says that three-wheeler fares will be reduced by 10 percent while school van charges will be reduced by 5 percent with effect from February 01.
Speaking at a press conference in Colombo today, he stated that the fares will be reduced in line with the recent slashing of fuel prices.
The Government last week reduced the price of petrol by Rs 33 and diesel by Rs 16 per liter while price of kerosene was reduced by Rs 16 per liter.
The price of 92 octane petrol per liter has been reduced from Rs. 150 to Rs. 117, while the diesel pump price has reduced from Rs. 111 to Rs. 95, and the price of Kerosene reduced from Rs 91 to Rs 65.
The price of 95 octane petrol per liter has been reduced from Rs. 158 to Rs. 128, while the super diesel price has reduced from Rs. 133 to Rs. 110.
Meanwhile bus fares are also set to reduce by 8-10% from February 1 while the minimum fare has been reduced from Rs. 9 to Rs. 8.
