Girl dies after collapsing during school assembly

An eight year old schoolgirl from studying at Balangoda-Hungama Maha Vidyalaya has collapsed and died during morning school assembly, Police told Ada Derana. Despite efforts by the school officials to rush her to hospital the girl was pronounced dead at the time of admission.
The girl was studying in the 3rd grade at the school and police are conducting further inquiries into the death.
On February 6 a similar incident was reported where a 15 year old boy from Ambalanthota died after collapsing during a marathon at the school inter-house sports meet.
