The Executive Committee of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has appointed MP Susil Premajantha as the party’s National Organiser and SB Nawinne as the Treasurer while Anura Priyadarshana Yapa is to remain as the General Secretary.

Meanwhile four Senior Vice Presidents, 10 Vice Presidents were appointed and 8 Deputy Secretaries have also been appointed. They are as follows:

Senior Vice Presidents – Nimal Siripala de Silva, W.D.J. Seneviratne, A. H. M. Fowzie and Janaka Bandara Tennakoon.

Vice Presidents – Rajitha Senaratne, C.B. Ratnayake, Kumara Welgama, Dullas Alahapperuma, S.B. Dissanayake, Piyasena Gamage, Sarath Amunugama, Felix Perera, M.K.D.S. Gunawardena and Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.

Deputy Secretaries – Jagath Pushpakumara, Duminda Dissanayake, Maheepala Herath, Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Dullas Alahapperuma, Mahinda Samarasingha, Mahinda Amaraweera and Ranjith Siyambalapitiya.

However, former deputy minister Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan alias ‘Karuna Amman’ who previously served as a Vice President of the SLFP has not been reappointed to the post.

The SLFP Executive Committee met at the ‘Apé Gama’ premises in Battaramulla today, under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena, to take crucial decisions pertaining to the party’s future, its constitution and the filling of top posts.

Premajayantha’s appointment comes in the aftermath of former Minister Basil Rajapaksa’s resignation from the post of SLFP National Organiser on January 15, after accepting “full responsibility” for the defeat of President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Presidential Election held on January 8.

The former Minister of Economic Development left the country for US just two days after Maithripala Sirisena was sworn in as the President of Sri Lanka.

MP Nawinne replaces former Minister Dullas Alahapperuma as the party’s Treasurer.

Ex-minister Yapa was appointed as the General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) on November 22 last year after his predecessor Maithripala Sirisena defected from the government to contest the Presidential Election.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa handed over leadership of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party to the new President Maithripala Sirisena following the polls.
