Air Force to deploy aviation unit to South Sudan

The Sri Lanka Air Force is to deploy an aviation unit under the charge of the United Nations helicopter deployment in South Sudan, the Ministry of Defense said on Monday.

This is the second aircraft deployment by the Sri Lanka Air Force under the U.N. mandate.

The deployment will comprise of 18 officers and 86 airmen and is scheduled to depart for South Sudan in the first week of March, the ministry said.
