MSD officer remanded over assaulting incident

The Wattala Magistrate on Tuesday (22) remanded an Inspector attached to the Ministerial Security Division (MSD) for allegedly assaulting a person in Mahabage in July, 2014.

The person had been assaulted on 19 July --while the officer was serving under the Western Province Chief Minister Prasanna Ranatunga, according to the police.

The MSD officer was arrested, last afternoon.

Police Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana said the officer would be interdicted due to this incident and an inquiry report on this regard has been forwarded to the IGP as well.
