Prisoner escapes from hospital bathroom

A prisoner has escaped while receiving treatment at the Balapitiya Hospital today, police said.

The inmate who had been transferred from the Balapitiya Prison to the hospital and was admitted due to an illness, reportedly escaped through the window of a bathroom at the hospital.

The convict had served 22 years of his sentence at the Galle Prison before being transferred to the Balapitiya Prison.
