Wimal Weerawansa’s wife remanded

Shashi Weerawansa, wife of former Minister Wimal Weerawansa, who was arrested for allegedly submitting forged documents to obtain a diplomatic passport, has been remanded until 25 February, Police Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana said. 

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) apprehended Shashi Weerawansa at a private hospital in Malabe, on Sunday (22) evening.

Ex-Minister Weerawansa was also summoned to the Police Headquarters this morning and questioned by CID officers  in connection with a complaint lodged by Kaduwela Mayor H.A. Buddhadasa in 2011.
