The Sri Lankan Government must devolve more powers to the provincial governments, restore people’s fundamental rights and provide homes to internally displaced persons, said D. Pandian, State Secretary, Communist Party of India.

Addressing reporters a day ahead of the party’s 23rd state conference in Coimbatore on Tuesday, he said the Sri Lankan Government must also order a United Nations probe into the alleged war crimes and human rights violations.

“India should not only support such a move but also ensure that the government there facilitated a transparent probe. Only then justice would prevail,” Pandian was quoted as saying by The Hindu.
