No bail for Wimal’s wife

Shashi Weerawansa, the wife of ex-Minister Wimal Weerawansa was further remanded until 4 March by the Colombo Magistrate, this afternoon (25).

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested Shashi Weerawansa at a private hospital in Malabe last Sunday (22), on charges of submitting forged documents to obtain a diplomatic passport. 

Prison authorities yesterday sought permission from the court to transfer the suspect from the private hospital to remand custody.

Attorneys representing Mrs. Weerawansa requested for consent to admit the defendant to the Colombo National Hospital as she is suffering from an illness.
