Bus strike on Kandy-Colombo route

March 2, 2015   11:23 am

Inter-provincial private buses operating on the Kandy-Colombo route have resorted to a strike action, since this morning, President of the Lanka Private Bus Owners Association Gemunu Wijerathne said.

He added the trade union action has been taken in protest over authorities’ decision to make compulsory to wear a uniform effective from Monday (2).

However, Operations Director of the National Transport Commission (NTC) H.W. Vipulasen told Ada Derana that additional Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) buses will be deployed in order to to avoid any inconvenience to the passengers.
