Man who immolated self at leasing company dies

The individual who committed self-immolation at a leasing company in Ampara yesterday has succumbed to injuries, police said.  

The 40-year-old from Ampara, who reportedly failed to settle overdue payments of his vehicle leasing, doused himself with petrol and set himself ablaze at the well known leasing company on Monday (2) morning.

He was rushed to the Ampara Hospital and admitted to its Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with critical burns following the incident, however he succumbed to injuries this morning, police said.

Ampara Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
