Two cops suspended after suspect’s suicide

A Sergeant and Constable attached to Dummalasuriya Police have been suspended following the alleged suicide of a suspect inside a jail cell at the police station.
A person from Neralugama, Potuheragama had committed suicide on March 04 while in police custody. He reportedly used his own trouser to hang himself inside the cell.
The two police officers who were on duty at the time of the incident have been suspended, as per the instruction of the Kuliyapitiya ASP, for failure to perform assigned duties.
