Court issues notice on six including Finance Minister

The Appeal Court today (12 March) issued notices on six including Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake, Secretary to the Treasury, Deputy Secretary to the Treasury and Director General of Customs.

Several representatives of the Sri Lanka Vehicle Importers’ Association had moved the Appeal Court challenging Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake’s order to remove the depreciation tax formula and to impose the brand new vehicle taxes when importing vehicles.

Minister Ravi Karunanayake, Secretary to the Treasury, Deputy Secretary to the Treasury and Director General of Customs have been named as respondents in the case.
