Police nab escapee after 12-hour search

The Nawagattegama Police have located and arrested an individual who escaped from the custody of prison authorities, a police source said. A police search team nabbed the suspect in Sravasti Pura area in Anuradhapura, on Saturday (14) evening.

The suspect had reportedly escaped from the Puttalam Base hospital, while being treated in the custody of prison authorities, last morning.

The individual along with three others were arrested for allegedly excavating for treasure in Nawagattegama on Friday (13), according to the police.

The suspect will be produced in the Puttalam Magistrate’s Court, today.
