Rathgama PS chairman shot dead in Hikkaduwa

The Chairman of the Rathgama Pradeshiya Sabha, Manoj Pushpakumara Mendis, has been shot dead at a hotel in Hikkaduwa last night, police said. 

The 37-year-old was rushed to the Karapitiya Hospital following the shooting which took place during a social gathering at the hotel. However, he had succumbed to injuries shortly after.

Two more persons were reportedly injured in the shooting. 

Hikkaduwa Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
