Man gets death penalty for heroin possession

A person found guilty for the possession of 303.5 grams of heroin was sentenced to death by the Colombo High Court today.

The Attorney General had filed a case against the suspect, a resident of Mount Lavinia, at the Colombo High Court on charges of heroin possession.

When the case was taken up today, High Court Judge Preethi Padman Surasena sentenced him to death after the charges were proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
