Soldier dead, 28 injured in army truck-bus collision

One soldier were killed while another 28 persons were wounded following a traffic collision involving an Army truck and a passenger transport bus in Ratnapura new town today.

Police said that a bus traveling from Colombo to Monaragala had collided with the army truck, transporting a group of soldiers, arriving from the opposite direction, police said.

The accident had occurred at around 3.30pm today while the wounded have been admitted to the Ratnapura Hospital.

Correction: It was previously reported that two soldiers were killed in the collision, however police now confirm that only one soldier was killed.
