Two dead after lorry crashes into shop

Two persons were killed after a lorry veered off the road and crashed into a shop in the Meepitiya area on the Colombo-Kandy main road.

Police said a woman and a man who were in the shop at the time of the accident were rushed to the Kegalle Hospital with injuries, however they succumbed to injuries shortly after.

The driver of the lorry has been arrested over the accident while he is to be produced at the Kegalle Magistrate’s Court today.

Kegalle Police are conducting further investigations.
